Cortado, the leading provider of cloud desktop solutions, today announces its Cortado Corporate Server protects local data with its unique mobile device management (MDM) capabilities on the new 128GB version of the Apple iPad. Cortado Corporate Server’s multi-level security options include: complete encryption of local documents, offline password prompts and flexible remote wipes.
Designed with the business user in mind, the new 128GB iPad doubles storage capacity, making users more likely to edit and save data locally on the device. If the iPad were lost or stolen, it would be easy for confidential data to fall into the wrong hands. This makes it important to reliably protect locally stored data, especially if the iPad will also be used professionally for instance in a bring your own device (BYOD) context.
The on-premise solution, Cortado Corporate Server, supports the secure use of iPads, including the recently launched 128GB version, in corporate environments. The MDM system, with productive desktop functions, supports the local encryption of data on iOS devices and subsequently prevents unauthorized access to the data. In addition, the Cortado Client on the device is able to authenticate the user without an internet connection, enabling local files to be password-protected without connecting to the server. Any attempt to manipulate the locally stored password in the offline state triggers an immediate deletion of the data.
Using Cortado Corporate Server’s remote wipe capability, a company has the ability to delete information on the device. The user can also wipe their device through web access via Cortado’s User Self Service Portal. In addition, Cortado Corporate Server is able to keep personal and business data separate. This is of particular importance for BYOD applications in the corporate environment, when employees use their own devices for both business and personal use. In this case, the corporate data can be deleted using a partial remote wipe.
“The new iPad with 128GB of storage is predestined to be used for mobile work and the saving of local data to the device. This increases the demands on IT for added security measures. Cortado Corporate Server provides a comprehensive and essential solution for integrating the devices into the network securely and protecting the local data. All while enabling users to maintain optimum productivity while using their devices” said Carsten Mickeleit, CEO of Cortado AG.
