Microsoft recently released their Windows Server Virtualization Validation Program, which is for validating Windows server Operating Systems on hypervisor based or hosted solutions. The list of participating vendors is:
Citrix Systems, Inc.Novell, Inc.Sun MicrosystemsVirtual Iron Software
And hmmm... what about the other vendors? Well as it now stands Microsoft will support virtualization in the main, caveat, caveat, they might just insist that you move the install to physical hardware and try again. With the proliferation of various hypervisors and variants, I suppose it does make sense to validate them to ensure standards are adhered to. For the end user it is important in terms of due diligence, that everything possible has been done to ensure that the end user has guaranteed support by the vendor. I am interested to see where this is all going ...
