Citrix's Synergy has come and gone and VMworld will soon give us another opportunity to meet with peers and leaders in the industry. Sys Con's Virtualization Conference and Expo is going on this week in NYC. What you missed that one? I did too. I am not sure it has gained critical mass yet. What we do need are more universal areas, real or virtual, to bring the community together so ideas can be shared and we can all do some shameless networking. VMworld and Citrix each attract their own communities and have some overlap. We need network opportunities where we can all access each other without any alignment other than virtual.
I think I've found a good (and free) opportunity for us all to do that virtually (pun intended). I've launched a Virtual Tech Leaders Web site and worked with LinkedIn to launch a Virtual Tech Leaders group. I've invited a few of the leaders in the industry (from DABCC, VMware, Citrix, ISVs, and Brian Madden's site) and many have already joined. Admission to the group is subject to approval but you can request to join yourself. As long as you are a leader in the virtual technology community or an outspoken advocate of virtual tech, you qualify. Take a look at the group and submit your request to network with us. I look forward to seeing you on the other side.
