Changing UserProfile storage default location
At many customer place and even more often now RDS and XenApp servers are virtual I see C: drives (System drives) full without a tiny byte left… This is even more painful when roaming profiles need to be store on the same drive. This is the default behaviour for roaming and local profile creation, their location is “c:\Users” or “c:\Documents and Settings”

Microsoft User Experience Virtualization (UE-V) Release Candidate Now Available
As you might have read on the Windows for Your Business blog, today Karri Alexion-Tiernan announced that the User Experience Virtualization (UE-V) Release Candidate (RC) is available for download. UE-V, which was first announced in April, will be included in MDOP and gives users a consistent and personal Windows experience by allowing them to change their device and keep their experience. With UE-V it doesn’t matter if they are using a locally installed desktop or a desktop hosted in the datacenter using VDI, a physically installed or virtually deployed application.

RES Workspace Manager 2012 – New functionality; Relay servers
With the release of the 2012 version of RES Workspace Manager a couple of things have changed. One of those things is the addition of the Relay servers, other features like ConfigMgr support will be discussed later on. So, what's up with those relay servers? Until now every agent connected directly to the datastore to get the latest and greatest based on refreshing and caching settings for the agents. A downturn of this is that all agents are connecting to the datastore and therefore causing load. Also when your environment reaches beyond one location the communication to that datastore might not be optimal.

Notes from the Road 11 – Microsoft User Experience Virtualization
I think the best way to start this latest NFR blog is with a hearty congratulations to my old colleagues and friends at Microsoft. Earlier today they announced the much anticipated official Beta of a project code named “Park City”, or officially UE-V. User Experience Virtualization has been in the pipe for a long time now and with this announcement by Microsoft today it sends a clear message across the user state virtualization space. And that message must absolutely be taken seriously -or desktop modernization projects could be in jeopardy.

16 years after roaming profiles made their debut in Windows NT 4.0 Microsoft takes another stab at synchronizing user settings across devices – a very different one. As we will see, UE-V is radically different from roaming profiles, but so similar to some other user environment management products that it seems like a best-practices implementation.
