Citrix XenApp Monitoring: XenApp Farm Health Report and Farm Nanny
Although Citrix Resource Manager was not perfect, many Citrix administrators are missing the functionality when they upgrade to XenApp 6.x. EdgeSight is after too complicated and requires more back-end components, while in large companies the central monitoring system is too complex, provide too much information and/or does not satisfy the specific needs of Citrix administrators. Happily this gap is (partly) filled my some freeware tools, where in this article XenApp Farm Health Report and Farm Nanny.

Building Custom Citrix EdgeSight Reports Part 4 - The Wedding
After the last two articles have demonstrated the schema of the EdgeSight database and the layout of a query, this posting brings together all the pieces to create a report for EdgeSight. A report is based on the query which pulls data from the EdgeSight database. Through the use of special variables, the EdgeSight user interfaces passes parameters to the query to customize the resulting output. This requires special methods to work with.

Citrix EdgeSight 5.3 Monitors License Servers
On the 11th of March, Citrix quietly released EdgeSight 5.3. Apart from endpoints and XenApp servers, EdgeSight now monitors license servers presents in the environment. No agent is required for this new feature. This version is not affected by the timebomb present in earlier versions ;-)

Citrix EdgeSight in Trusted Domains Woes
When EdgeSight is set up correctly, all data is collected without any user interference especially no administrator credentials are required. Unfortunately, this is only true for historical reports generated from the EdgeSight database. As soon as real-time reports are used and workers are started manually on devices in trusted domains, the administrator’s job gets tricky.
